Alex J. Cavanaugh is hosting an Insecure Writer's Support Group over on his blog and I think it's a fabulous idea! Writing is a solitary profession and we often feel isolated and alone, even lonely. It's also one of those things, I think, where if you're not in it, you don't get it. It's just writing, right? How can that be lonely? How can that make you feel isolated, even from those you care about most? It just CAN. And, just as insecurity runs rampant in most people of any profession, it's just as prevalent for writers. It's scary to think of some stranger reading and critiquing something you slaved over, especially if they could care less if it's constructive criticism or just plain ol' bashing. So...a writer's support group is absolutely fantastic! Thanks, Alex!!
The muse has been back for the past few days! I've managed to write/descriptively outline two more chapters. I'm freaking ecstatic! I haven't written on The Heritage in a while, until a few weeks ago, when my good friend Nancy Thompson (go check out her blog, here), read a pitiful, 'fighting the insecurities' email from me and replied with uplifting, amazingly kind words. Thanks to her awesomeness and advice, I managed to crank out a whole chapter, even though I hadn't written on that particular story since February. So...managing to write 3 chapters in the past month and half is amazing when you consider that I'd just about given up on ever finishing this work. Which hurt, because these characters hold my heart more than any others have.
Anyway...enough maudlin stuff and on to the weekend! We are headed out of town for the weekend and I'm excited. The hubby and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary a couple days ago and it was great. We love and care for each other just as much now as we did when we married, but it's a different sort of love and caring. It's born of understanding, compassion, respect, and honesty. It took us a long time and many low spots to reach this point, but it is definitely worth it. We've grown, like vines, twisting around one another, holding the other one up when needed, and providing support through good and bad times. I'm excited to see what the next 10 years brings!
Have a great weekend people! You can check out the direct link to the Insecure Writer's Support Group here, but I suggest checking out Alex's entire blog. He's super cool and has lots of info

Great post. Nancy is awesome. She keeps me going as well. So glad to hear you're being productive. It is a great feeling. I had a very productive week 2 weeks ago and then this last week I wrote nothing--although I was thinking about what I should be writing 24/7. LOL. Happy anniversary!
Hey Tara!! I've missed you here in the blogosphere! Yes, I love Alex. He is super cool, isn't he? I think I could easily base a new character on him. Hmm, Alex as a character...that just might work!
Anyway, happy 10th anniversary, though I think I might have expressed those wishes on Facebook last week. My brain is so addled after being gone so long, I can't remember which way is up.
I'm so happy that you've been able to write a lot lately and I'm glad if I was of some sort of assistance. Between you, Lisa and Laila, I'm getting a very swelled head. I hope you will allow me to read more someday soon, whether it's Lucius, Evie, Adam or anyone else. I like and enjoy your characters.
Have a fun holiday weekend & I look forward to your posts!
Lisa - thinking about what you SHOULD be writing is almost worse than not writing isn't it? At least when you're not writing (and not thinking about it), you can relax and enjoy. I hope you got some relaxation from thinking about shoulda, coulda lol ;-)
Nancy - I'm glad you're back! I missed you on the blogosphere, too. Don't worry about the swelled head. I'm a nurse (almost lol), so I can just find something to deflate it with. Or, Lisa, Laila, and I will come after you with tacks, needles, and other pokey things! ;-)
